Vega Ioane’s preseason has already been a little more complicated than the box score—or the immediate reaction—would have you believe.
Against Philadelphia, Ioane’s debut got off to a rocky start. The first drive featured some of the issues you’d expect from a rookie guard adjusting to NFL speed: late recognition, imperfect leverage and a couple of reps where things happened faster than he was ready for. But once he settled in, the game changed. Ioane was dominant the rest of the way, showing the power, movement skills and physical temperament that made him such an intriguing addition to Baltimore’s offensive line.
