FILM ROOM: Finding the Ravens’ Swing Tackle

Carson Vinson entered camp with the inside track, but UDFA Diego Pounds is making the decision a lot more interesting. What does the film say?

Ronnie Stanley and Roger Rosengarten are locked in, but the Ravens still need to figure out who is playing tackle if one of them misses time. Coming into camp, Carson Vinson was the obvious answer. Baltimore spent a fifth-round pick on him a year ago knowing he needed time, and we really didn’t get much of a chance to see where he was in that development as a rookie. This summer has been different. Vinson looks more comfortable in his sets, he’s doing a better job using his length and you’re seeing fewer of those reps where everything falls apart once the rusher gets into him. There’s still work to do, but he looks a lot more like an NFL tackle than the raw prospect Baltimore drafted a year ago.
