For years, the Baltimore Ravens have had these opportunities slip through their finger tips. Multiple failed 2 point conversions, whacky endings.
Well the Jesse Minter has brought new life. The Trio in Rio. Tyler Huntley’s legacy drive.
It doesn’t matter what the situation is, the Baltimore Ravens are finding ways to get wins.
Let’s get into the Game Notes.
Offense
This section would have read A LOT different before Tyler Huntley’s last two drives. He finished the day 24/32 for 201 yards and 2 TD. His passing chart shows the quick game natures of the gameplan, but the reality is when the Ravens needed him to push the ball past the sticks he did it. Tyler Huntley had a Time To Throw of 2.52 on his 26 dropbacks without pressure, which is insanely low. He was 20/25 for 173 yards and 2 TD on those downs.
Declan Doyle looked hesitant to ask Tyler Huntley to push the ball downfield, but in comeback situations, he looked in cotntrol and poised. No better placed ball than the tying TD to Tez Walker.
It was also the perfect redemption that Tyler Huntley, on the road, finished this one off with a QB sneak, which may not erase the Cincy debacle, but at least lets us forget it a little bit.
We can’t hide the elephant in the room about Mark Andrews. He finished with, but he cost the team 11 points in the 1st quarter on a dropped TD and a fumble. He then dropped a 2 point conversion and a critical 3rd down in Q4. It’s been a turbulent season for Andrews. He’s had some rock solid play and has been a safety blanket, but these moments will continue to bring back PTSD flashbacks to fans.
But hey, Mark made several plays when it counted, albeit short plays. But we will not forget that display of lack-of-clutchness. Mark has lost his touch.
Zay Flowers had a quiet day compared to the standard he set, but that 3rd down conversion he had where he fought for the extra yard, that’s the difference in Zay Flowers this year. He’s a grown ass man now and has evolved into a WR that can play that possession game and make big plays when needed.
The offensive line fixtures of Vega Ioane, Ronnie Stanley and Roger Rosengarten had fantastic days. John Simpson was up and down and I thought Emery Jones really struggled in pass protection.
The difference was in run blocking. John Simpson moved bodies. Vega Ioane moved bodies. Emery Jones even moved bodies (albeit a few blown blocks). Add in Cam Jurgens and lets go.
