Preseason football is always about finding the signal through the noise.
And after two preseason games, we’re starting to get enough evidence to identify some trends. Some young players are forcing their way into the conversation. Others are making the Ravens’ final roster decisions significantly more difficult. And a few players who entered August with relatively secure positions aren’t doing themselves any favors.
Let’s get into it.
STOCK UP
Joe Fagnano, QB
At what point do we start wondering whether the Ravens can actually get Joe Fagnano onto the practice squad?
Fagnano completed 15-of-20 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown, again showing a quick trigger and decisiveness with the football. The Ravens would presumably love to get him through waivers, but keep stacking performances like this and you have to wonder: will he survive long enough to get there?
Josh Cuevas, TE
Last week it was Matthew Hibner. This week, Josh Cuevas paced the Ravens with three catches for 46 yards, including a long of 23.
Declan Doyle came to Baltimore after serving as Denver’s tight ends coach, and we’re already seeing the involvement. Baltimore is designing opportunities for the position, and Cuevas took advantage.
Speaking of TEs…
