The Ravens were back on the practice field Monday after Saturday’s 13-3 win over Minnesota. There’s one preseason game left, roster cuts are coming on Sunday and we still have a few jobs that need to be settled. This is going to be a whirlwind week, so dial into this daily summaries and we’ll keep you in tuned with everything you need to know!

Nnamdi Madubuike Takes his Next Step

We finally got an uptick from Nnamdi Madubuike on Monday. He’s spent most of the summer conditioning and working off to the side field, but Monday was the first time we saw him hit a sled and take on any form of contact. His horse collar was also notably not attached to his shoulder pads. After the sled work he went back to the side field, so we’re not talking about a return to practice here. Still, it was the first real change we’ve seen in his workload in a while.

I’ll admit I was starting to get a little worried about where this was headed. There’s also the contract piece to this: Madubuike needs to attempt a comeback for his deal not to be voided. I want to be really clear here. I’m not questioning Madubuike or suggesting there’s anything weird going on behind the scenes. I was starting to wonder whether he was physically going to be able to get back on the field at all. We’ve spent most of the summer watching him work off to the side without much changing. Monday, something finally changed.

Jesse Minter still wouldn’t commit to Madubuike being ready for Week 1, saying he doesn’t have a “definitive answer” on whether there’s enough time. He said the focus right now is just getting Madubuike better day by day, and that they are seeing improvement. I have no idea if that gets him onto the field for Week 1. But Monday was the first day where we could actually see some of that progress ourselves.
