Preseason has come and gone, and with it’s ending, the Ravens have had to make the tough decisions that will dictate what their 53 man roster will look like heading into Week 1. There were some big surprises, some of them pleasant, and others a bit puzzling, so without further ado, let’s break it all down.

This was one that I got wrong in my 53 man roster predictions from Saturday’s Opening Drive, and I have to say, I’m pleasantly surprised. Joe Fagnano is one of the better preseason stories in recent Ravens memory, and him making the 53 man roster is a testament to just how much the front office sees in the undrafted rookie. The former UConn QB impressed enough to earn his way towards three preseason appearances where he accounted for an NFL leading 509 passing yards, four total touchdowns, and a 74.7 completion percentage.
To put things in perspective, Fagnano wasn’t even a part of the Ravens initial undrafted free agent class - he and Diego Pavia were brought into rookie minicamps on a tryout basis. To go from such an inauspicious start, to forcing the hand of a team that’s enough of a contender as to not needing to worry about developmental quarterbacks is a hell of an achievement.
