I’ve seen this movie before.
The Ravens do this in September. They have an abysmal loss, everyone gets pissed off, we spend a week wondering what the hell is wrong and, usually, they figure it out.
2019 it was a 40-25 loss to the Cleveland Browns where Nick Chubb embarrassed them on the ground. 2022 it was the Miami Dolphins picking apart Mike MacDonald’s scheme. 2023 it was the Gardner Minshew-led Colts. 2024 it was the Gardner Minshew-led Raiders.
That doesn’t make Sunday any less frustrating.
If anything, this one bothered me more because of everything that changed this offseason. The Ravens turned over the entire coaching staff and, fair or not, I expected some of the stuff that has driven us nuts for years to look different.
Then they blow another fourth-quarter lead.
They can’t get off the field on third down. The Ravens can’t find a first down The protection gets messy. Penalties show up at the worst possible time. Suddenly you’re watching another game they absolutely should have won slip away.
So yeah, I’m frustrated.
But I’m also not doing the Week 2 thing where we decide we know exactly what this team is.
