After the whirlwind that was the final preseason game leading into roster cutdowns on this past Sunday, a calm before the storm has settled into the Ravens media sphere as we begin to finally look ahead to Week 1. With that in mind, I figured we’d use today’s Opening Drive as a chance to briefly look back at some of our recent content highlights we’ve had here on the site. Let’s take a look:
FILM ROOM: How Joe Fagnano Made the Final 53 Man Roster
It’s not often that the Ravens opt to roster three quarterbacks, and that just goes to show how impressive of a camp and preseason Joe Fagnano put together. In the above Film Room, Cole dives into the tape to dissect it all from a tape perspective, showcasing several impressive moments that helped to force the Ravens hand in keeping the rookie out of UConn. As a bonus, treat yourself to the video footage of Fagnano (and Ethan Burke) getting the news that they had made the team if you haven’t seen it already:

PODCAST: 53 Man Roster Breakdown
On Sunday night’s podcast, Cole and I sat down to react to the 53 man roster being officially released in real time. We went through the full 53 position by position, highlighting the fun stories like Burke and Fagnano, as well as some of our points of concern, like how exactly Andrew Voorhees fits into this team. Bonus points if you count up how many times the word “merit” was used in this podcast, and tweet it at us today.
The Opening Drive 9/1: Kicking Competition Finally Brews for Tyler Loop
The Ravens finally brought in another kicker.
If you missed yesterday’s Opening Drive, I’d recommend going back and giving it a read. Cole does a nice job fleshing out his feelings on the Ravens just now bringing in competition for Tyler Loop, dissects a promising update on Nnamdi Madubuike, gives some thoughts on how the waiver wire has shaken out for the Ravens, and more.
The Opening Drive, 8/31: Breaking Down the Ravens Final 53 Man Roster
Preseason has come and gone, and with it’s ending, the Ravens have had to make the tough decisions that will dictate what their 53 man roster will look like heading into Week 1. There were some big surprises, some of them pleasant, and others a bit puzzling, so without further ado, let’s break it all down.
While I provided plenty of thoughts on the 53 man roster on Sunday’s podcast, Monday’s Opening Drive gave me the opportunity to give concise thoughts on each position group, plus some more context on the bubble players who were left out of the picture (and why). If you still haven’t gone all the way in on breaking down how things shook out with the final 53, I’d suggest giving this a read, and listening to the podcast as well.
Baltimore Film Breakdown will return soon with more fresh content.
